Volvo Ocean Race Villages are hosted by iconic cities in stunning waterfronts around the world. In 2017-2018 with the 12 Host Cities hosting the race across the 9-month period, the footfall topped 2.5 million people.
Our team participated in the creation of the Race Village concept and its assets:
A central part of the Race Village was shared by the docks, Volvo pavilion and a ‘Pit lane’, a new style of Team Bases, introduced to bring the public closer to the sailing action than ever before and offering teams a turnkey solution for a premium structure within the Race Villages.
The Boatyard served as a central boat maintenance centre, staffed by experts from across the marine industry. It was open to the public at each stopover, allowing for a behind the scenes experience to explore what it takes to keep these race boats on the water.
The Globe and Race Boat Experience are interactive and immersive elements that bring the magic of the race to life through amazing video footage and boat full-size model that gives fans an opportunity to experience what the life on board is like.
